Cusco was the capital of the Inca Empire from the 13th century until the 16th century Spanish Conquest.

The Killke occupied Cusco from 900 to 1200 CE prior to the Incas.

In Cusco we stayed at the beautiful Belmond Palacio Nazarenes which was a former convent build on Inca walls.

The yummy pack at the back of the tub was a fabulous package of wonderful herbs and flowers for bathing. I immediately made a bath and while soaking I saw the sign “$40”!!! But it was supposed come with a butler to fix the bath for you🤣. I never called for the butler but I ended up using it 3 times so I feel I got my money’s worth!!! It was amazing!!!

The New Transformer movie was being filmed in Cusco while we were there so unfortunately we could not go to the Plaza de Armas (Center Square) where the movie was being filmed.

One of the 2 Churches in the Square. Before the churches were built the Spanish dismantled Inca temples and used the same stones and foundations for their churches

In this alley you can see ( besides Harvey and Jim Langon 🤣) the base of the structures are Inca construction. This is true of most of the structures in Cusco.

On the drive to Saksaywaman we stoped to take in this beautiful view of the city of Cusco

Saqsaywaman (has many different spellings) is a citadel on the northern outskirts of Cusco.

It was built by the Incas in the 15th century with dry stone walls constructed of huge stone.

The stones were put in place with amazing precision The stones used to build the great plaza and the adjacent three massive terrace walls are among the largest used in any building in pre-Hispanic America!
