Antarctica 1-29-22

2nd day of sailing the Drake Passage which again was fairly calm for the passage.
Bio security check of everyone’s gear making sure no organic materials (soil, seeds, etc ) on gear.  Every precaution was made to not contaminate our landings with foreign materials.

Lectures today:

Seals of Antarctica by Federico Beaudoin (truly a Seal Whisperer!)

The Wildlife of Penguins by Martin Renner.

With only 48 passengers it was fun meeting so many wonderful people from all corners of the world.   It was truly a relaxing, friendly, intimate environment.  The craziest was meeting Ann and John Campbell who’s son Ben is the best friend of my across the cove neighbor Garrett!!!   I know Ben and swim / float with Garrett, his family and Ben all summer long!  How random to go to the end of the earth with only 48 guests and have this connection!!!

Below are the 5 dear friends I quickly connected with (thanks to Terri the gang leader).

The “6 pack”-  left around table:   Marybeth (Missouri), Reamon (Ireland), yours truly, Tom (California), Terri (Gibraltar) , Eileen (Missouri)
