Antarctica 2-4-22 Antarctic Circle
We continued sailing south through the night. It was quite rough sea. We were scheduled to go to Detalle Island which was home to Base W of the British Antarctic study from 1956 - 1959. There was the remains of this base on the Island of this base. They left in a hurry and left so much behind in the base- food, clothing, equipment. Guides told us it is like a museum frozen in time. I was looking forward to seeing it but in Antarctica the wind, weather and sea determines what you get to do!

It was quite an exciting moment- the captain blow the ship horn and a humpback whale breached at the same time. Unfortunately I did not get to see this. But there were so many humbacks feeding in front of boat so that was an awesome sight!!

But most excitingly at 3:30 PM we crossed the Antarctic Circle!!!
