Peru DAY 2 Iquitos

Peru 🇵🇪   Day 2

Iquitos And to the Aria - our Amazon boat
October 1,2021
Fly from Lima to Iquitos.  Now it all makes sense “one”suitcase per guest.  Since I come with a lot of baggage I had 2 checked bags ; one roll on carry on and. a backpack.  Lima airport  was so inefficient:  - one window for the included one bag; another line and window for the extra checked bag THEN all the way to the other end of terminal- another line - to pay the $45 for extra bag.  Lucky Eva and Jenna from NJ also travel with lots of baggage!   We became fast baggage buddies!

Priscilla, Jenny and Carolyn arrived in Iquitos airport
Iquitos means “surrounded by water.”  So I guess you figured out it is an island.  Iquitos is the largest city in the world unconnected to any other by roads.
We toured Iquitos by luxury vans and had lunch in the only “all metal building’ in Peru built by Gustave Eiffel

Tuk Tuk- major form of travel in Iquitos   Side note: in all of Peru I did not see one baby in car seat.  Babies are held in Tuk Tuk, motorcycles, and cars!!!

TX cafe owned by Texan who  moved to Iquitos

Phil, Jim, Carolyn and Priscilla- lunch in The Eiffel all metal building

Now to the port to get our boat “Aria”.
